Concerns about Court Closures

Court Closures

 

The Government has announced that it is consulting on the proposed closure of 91 courts across the country. In the North West area alone the following Courts are likely to be scrapped;

•             Accrington County Court

•             Altrincham County Court

•             Bolton County Court

•             Bury County Court

•             Macclesfield County Court

•             Oldham County Court

•             Stockport County Court

•             Tameside County Court

If the planned closures go ahead, residents of the North West will have no choice but to go to the Manchester Civil Justice Centre if they need Court services.  The County Courts deal with a large range of matters including family law, personal debt/bankruptcy, hearings in respect of children, and disputes over money and injury claims.

We at Aegis Legal are very concerned how the impact of such planned closures will affect our clients and their ability to access justice within a reasonable distance from their homes.
